In August 2014, two musicians based in Edinburgh formed a band that creates electronic music with distinctive female vocals. Their first single 'You Gotta See' was released in December 2014, and was followed by a music video for their second single, 'Rotten Apple'. Both songs received great feedback and started building their fan-base, which keeps expanding. Substream’s debut gig was in March 2015 and established their reputation as a band that specialises in interesting and emotional performances with a lot of movement and improvisation between songs. The band consists of a live vocalist and a multi-instrumentalist who plays electric guitars, keyboards, soprano & tenor saxophones, all played to an electronic background. Their live performances are both energetic and uncompromising, which was evident at their appearance at last year's Hidden Door Festival in Edinburgh in support of the highly esteemed band Errors. Since releasing their latest single 'When The Sun Goes Down', the band has been focusing on an EP that expects a release in a few months time and have gigs lined up alongside acts including the Polish legends Bracia and Lady Pank.
"There's a great deal of potential here, not only do the duo have a good command of their direction and presentation which shows a professional outlook but they are pushing the boundaries and exploring where they can take their music which all points to mileage in the long term, rather than a short-lived exercise." - Band Management Universal

Aneshka PelowskaAneshka Pelowska has been singing for as long as she can remember; she wrote her first song at the age of six and started playing keyboard two years later. She first hit the stage at the age of ten with a choir and then quickly moved on to performing solo, often playing keys and singing at the same time. During her teenage years she took part in numerous local competitions, which ended with her standing at the podium in most cases. While sixteen years old Aneshka, faced with the problem of a lack of professional voice teachers in her area, started self-educating herself in voice projection and worked on her own style. In 2005 Aneshka ended The Public Music School in Zywiec where she studied classical guitar and piano. Aneshka went on to study Library and Information Science at the prestigious Jagiellonian University. She received a Masters' Degree in 2013, in which she achieved the highest grade. During her studies Aneshka remained committed to music: she joined her first rock bands and attended singing lessons from professional singing teachers such as Magdalena Sekula and the Speech Level Singing and Natural Voice Perfection vocal coach Sonia Lachowolska who is widely known in Poland. Aneshka was also a student at the School of Jazz and Popular Music in Krakow. She recorded with many bands of varying genres such as electronic, reggae and pop to name a few and she toured the country playing shows with the progressive metal band Setareth. In 2010 the band released an EP called 'Dark river of thoughts’. In 2012 Aneshka took a half-empty bag of clothes and moved to the UK to reunite with her family and to pursue her career in music. She has been a lead & backing vocalist for the Canadian musician Wyckham Portoeus; she performed with him at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in a show that was critically acclaimed by journalists from The Times. Aneshka is also one of the lead singers on Wyckham’s upcoming double album. Aneshka is gigging regularly and studying Popular Music at Edinburgh College. 'Substream' is a band that embodies all that she's wanted - intense, emotional music which is the perfect platform for extraordinary and incendiary live performances.

Michał JesionowskiFrom the youngest the music was always driving his soul, mind and body. It is suspected, that all his musical interests are the result of his mother’s accident; when she was pregnant, she went to a disco club and one of the loudspeakers fell down and hit her head. And she treated this as a omen and said to herself that my baby will be a musician. It also might be a reason for Michał’sdancing in his cot while sleeping when there were Boney M songs played on the radio. When he was 2 years old he was playing his first notes on piano, sitting on his great grandfather’s knee and it was decided to send Michał to music school in Łódź. He was playing piano and clarinet at the school. He partcipated in lots of competitions and shows. Michał was also creating more and more his own composition that was not well seeing in classicallyoriented school. In that time he started to discover electronic instruments that gave him infinite potential of sounds and a big journey to unknown.
After he finished music school he decided to take care of himself and his own compositions and ideas. He was creating music for computer games, commercials, multimedia presentations as well as theatre and dancing shows. He was always open for new sounds and new experiences. With time he has spreaded his instruments interest and the general view on what “music” means. The most important musical and other projects: - music for computer game called Exodus -The Last War - music for smartphone games: Puzlik (Final award in National Samsung competition) - Relax Puzzle (Final award in International Samsung competition) - cooperation with African Drums School called City Bum Bum (http://www.citybumbum.pl) - folk project called Ich Trole (https://youtu.be/i_9b4kbrZY4) - grunge group called Spaces Faces - audio-visual project called Ardente - solo project called Saxy MJ (https://soundcloud.com/saxymj) |
